Our Team
Dr. Karen Furlong
Dr. Karen Furlong began practicing at Nova Dental upon graduation from Dalhousie Dental School in 1988. Over the past 20 years, she has helped direct our office’s growth in the community and was extremely involved with the planning of our new office.
Passionate about esthetic/cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Furlong gets excited about giving patients their best possible smile. She achieves this by listening to her patients’ thoughts on their smile and using the best combination of options such as orthodontics, Sapphire professional tooth whitening, lumineers, lasers and other techniques. As she is often heard to comment, “There is no better feeling than when a patient looks at a pre-treatment picture then looks in their mouth and says, "I can’t believe that smile is mine."
In her spare time, Dr. Furlong plays soccer and racquetball, is a National level 4 swim official and organizes Halifax’s International Children’s Games Team. Her husband and two teenaged daughters are also very involved in sport.

On a personal level, she has raised two sons, and volunteers in many capacities with sporting and community organizations.
Dr. Amanda Miller
Even from a young age, Dr. Amanda Miller knew she would pursue a career as a dentist. “Dentistry allows me to care for the well-being of my patients, and equips me with the skills to make my patients feel better about their smiles and themselves.” Dr. Miller enjoys the challenges and rewards of daily practice and encourages an open forum with her patients. She strives to provide a comfortable and caring environment and believes even the most fearful patient can have a positive experience at the dentist.
Dr. Miller attended both the University of New Brunswick and Dalhousie University, where she completed her Bachelor degree in Science and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
